HZ-800 bimetal composite bearing Manufacturers

Due to the characteristics of HZ bimetallic bearing materials, HZ bimetallic bearings must work in an oil-lubricated environment. According to different application scenarios, they can generally be designed for three lubrication conditions. In low-speed motion scenarios such as automobile balance bridges, spring steel plates, brake shoes, steering knuckles, punch guides, bulldozer driving wheels, driven wheels and other parts, they can be designed for grease lubrication, that is, grease is applied to the bearing surface during assembly, and then grease is regularly added during use. In medium-speed motion scenarios such as connecting rods, punching and shearing machine tool shafts, conveyor wheels and other parts, they can be designed to be equipped with oil cup lubrication. In high-speed motion scenarios such as gear boxes, oil pumps, oil cylinders, engines, clutches and other parts, they can be designed for oil immersion lubrication.

Industry knowledge

Zhejiang Huazhou Technology Co., Ltd. is a China-based manufacturer of plain bearings, and the HZ-800 bimetal composite bearing family is our steel-backed, lead-bronze-lined range for oil-lubricated, high-load duty. We produce the HZ800, HZ720, HZ700, HZJ20 and HZ930 material grades as bushes, wrapped sleeves, flanged parts and thrust washers, supplied to automotive, construction, agricultural and general industrial programmes.

The range is built around a bimetal strip: a low-carbon steel backing for structural strength and heat dissipation, metallurgically bonded to a copper-alloy lining that carries the sliding surface. Parts are formed, machined and finished in our Nanxun plant, where more than 280 sets of special equipment and 50 automatic production lines support volume programmes as well as custom geometries.

What the HZ-800 Range Covers

Every HZ-800 part shares the same bimetal construction, but the surface finish and lubrication feature are selected for the working point. Smooth-plate variants run with a plain sliding face; oil-groove variants carry machined channels that distribute lubricant across the loaded zone; copper-plated variants add an electroplated layer for thermal conductivity and running-in behaviour. Graphite-embedded and welded-flange versions extend the family to specific mounting and lubrication conditions.

Model Surface / Feature Typical Fit
HZ801 Natural colour, smooth plate High-impact and vibrating bushes and washers; boundary or mixed lubrication
HZ802 Natural colour, oil groove Steering gear, king-pin bushes, pedal bushes, lifting equipment
HZ803 Copper-plated, smooth plate Electric motors, hydraulic pumps, semi-lubricated running-in duty
HZ804 Copper-plated, oil groove Continuous lubricated rotation with controlled oil feed
HZ08G Bimetallic, graphite-embedded copper bushing Applications needing backup dry lubrication at start-up
HZ08M Welded flange bimetallic composite Axial location plus radial load in one part

Material Grades and Load Limits

The lining alloy determines allowable load, hardness and temperature ceiling. We produce five standard grades, each with recognised international equivalents, so a drawing that references SAE, GLYCO or JIS codes can be matched to a Huazhou material without redesigning the housing.

  • HZ800 / CuPb10Sn10 — bronze hardness HB 70–100, allowable max dynamic load 65 N/mm², max temperature 260 °C. The strongest grade in the range, suited to high-impact and vibrating bushes and washers.
  • HZ720 / CuPb24Sn4 — HB 45–70, 38 N/mm², 170 °C. Good fatigue strength and sliding performance for middle load, middle speed duty.
  • HZ700 / CuPb30 — HB 30–45, 25 N/mm², 150 °C. Seizure resistance and tolerance to foreign particles; main bearings in high-speed engines.
  • HZJ20 / AlSn20Cu (lead-free) — HB 30–40, 30 N/mm², 200 °C. Moderate load, good corrosion resistance for half-bushes and compressor or refrigerator bearings.
  • HZ930 / CuSn6.5P0.1 (lead-free) — HB 60–90, 65 N/mm². Lead-free option with high fatigue strength and load capacity.

Mating shaft hardness is specified per grade — 53 HRC for HZ800 and HZ930, 50 HRC for HZ720, 270 HB for HZ700 and 250 HB for HZJ20 — so shaft material and heat treatment are part of the bearing selection, not a separate decision.

Lubrication Design: Grease, Oil Cup or Oil Immersion

HZ-800 bearings must run in a lubricated environment. We design the lubrication method around the motion profile rather than applying one pattern to every part.

Grease Lubrication

Low-speed motion — automotive balance bridges, spring steel plates, brake shoes, steering knuckles, punch guides, bulldozer drive and driven wheels. Grease is applied at assembly and replenished at service intervals.

Oil Cup Lubrication

Medium-speed motion — connecting rods, punching and shearing machine tool shafts, conveyor wheels. Oil feed is arranged through the housing or shaft.

Oil Immersion

High-speed motion — gear boxes, oil pumps, oil cylinders, engines, clutches. The bearing runs fully flooded and relies on the lining's fatigue strength.

Where the Range Fits Across Our Product Family

HZ-800 is the lubricated, high-load branch of our plain bearing programme. Where a project needs a different lubrication regime or housing style, we supply the matching family from the same plant.

Configuration Options We Build To

HZ-800 parts are supplied as wrapped bushes, machined sleeves, flanged bushes, half-bushes and washers. Within that, the configurable variables are:

  • Bore, outside diameter, wall thickness and length, including thin-wall sections.
  • Oil groove pattern — plain, single oil hole, diamond or spiral groove, or customer drawing.
  • Surface treatment — natural finish or copper plating.
  • Flange geometry, welded flange, chamfers and assembly lead-ins.
  • Material grade selection against load, speed, temperature and shaft hardness.

Manufacturing, Quality and Acceptance

The Nanxun plant operates coiling machines, punching presses, automatic chamfering and coiling equipment and raw-material sintering lines, supported by thousands of sets of grinding tools. That equipment base lets us hold dimensional consistency across repeat batches rather than treating each order as a one-off. Our quality system is certified to IATF 16949 for the automotive supply chain, and we hold national high-tech enterprise recognition and utility model patents covering bearing products.

Acceptance is agreed per project. Typical documentation includes material grade confirmation against the specified equivalent code, bronze hardness, dimensional inspection of bore, OD, length and wall thickness, and surface condition of the lining and plating. Where a customer requires first-article inspection or sample approval, we produce samples in three days for evaluation before series release.

Installation, Maintenance and Spares

Bimetal bushes are normally press-fitted into a machined housing. Bore tolerance after fitting, housing roundness and lead-in chamfer all affect final clearance, so we supply recommended fit data with the drawing package. Because the lining is metallurgically bonded to the steel backing, the part can be replaced as a single item without re-machining the housing.

  • Grease-lubricated parts require periodic replenishment; oil-fed parts depend on maintaining the oil supply and filtration.
  • Replacement parts are produced to the same drawing and material grade as the original supply.
  • Worn bushes are identified by increased clearance, noise or temperature rise at the housing.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between HZ801 and HZ803?

Both are smooth-plate bimetal bearings with the same steel-backed, lead-bronze-lined construction. HZ801 has a natural finish for quick break-in and stable friction under heavy stress. HZ803 adds an electroplated copper layer that improves thermal conductivity, corrosion resistance and compatibility with the mating surface, which suits motors, hydraulic pumps and semi-lubricated duty.

Can HZ-800 bearings run without oil?

HZ-800 bimetal bearings are designed for lubricated applications. The graphite-embedded HZ08G variant provides backup lubrication during start-up or intermittent operation, but continuous dry running is not the intended duty. For fully maintenance-free operation we would look at the HZ-10 self-lubricating range instead.

Which grade should be used for high-impact loads?

HZ800 with CuPb10Sn10 lining is the strongest grade in the family, with an allowable maximum dynamic load of 65 N/mm² and a 260 °C temperature ceiling. It is the standard choice for high-impact vibrating bushes and washers. HZ930 offers a lead-free alternative at the same 65 N/mm² rating.

Do you supply custom dimensions and oil groove patterns?

Yes. We manufacture to customer drawings, including non-standard bore, OD, length, wall thickness, flange geometry and groove patterns. Samples are produced in three days so the fit and running behaviour can be checked before series production.

What documentation is supplied with an order?

Material grade and equivalent code, bronze hardness, dimensional inspection records and surface condition are the standard package. First-article inspection reports and sample approval records are provided where the project requires them. Our quality system is certified to IATF 16949.

How are the bearings packaged and shipped?

Packaging and delivery scope are agreed per order, covering part protection, labelling and carton or pallet configuration. We export to markets including Russia, Malaysia, Iraq and Romania, and confirm shipping terms during order review.
